I’m so happy to see that there will be a dinner theater on Valentine’s Day. It’s nice when there is something different and exciting going on locally on a special occasion. Should be a night enjoyed by all.
On March 26, 2008 Officer Jorgenson is giving a presentation to parents and community patrons who are interested in finding out more about internet predators and how to keep our children safe. I’m sure we can all benefit by the information given in this presentation. Hope to see you there!

There was an Advanced Blog Training class held at the computer lab in Rolette for the area bloggers. The class was Wednesday evening, January 23rd with well over a dozen bloggers. New techniques on adding videos and uploading pictures were discussed along with going over some of the things from the first training class that was in November. I’m sure we all went home wanting to get on our computers and to our blog sites to try out what we just learned.
PS: We need more people to help blog local information!!!
Here we are, singing the blues again, for the need of funds at the Cando Community Library! After much research the Library Board has gone to the City Council AGAIN, asking that an added levy of 8 mills be put on the Primary Election Ballot in the Spring. At present the average household in Cando is paying about $7 in City Real Estate Tax. This added mill levy (+ present mill levy) so that the budget could balance would be under $25 per average household.
Please help us get this passed by positive output to the public and voting “Yes” in June; we don’t want to lose our Library! And good ideas for raising money will be welcome. Talk to the Library Board members: Becky Kingsley, Amy Borstad, Connie Elsperger, Lavonne Haugen, J. R. Gibbens.
Hi. Market Place was last week and I learned so much. Tuesday was tourism topic workshops and there are a lot of things that can be done in North Dakota to promote tourism here. Wednesday was spent at the artist’s workshops and this was very good also; the first class was on time management, the second one was on writing a business plan for art businesses, and the last was on marketing. Now to get busy and do all that I learned and promote Cando, North Dakota and all the interesting things that we have here.
Cando Shade Tree Committee has been working hard the past several years replacing boulevard trees. Other projects have been working on adding more different trees to the Towner County Court House yard and also to the City Park. The members worked the lunch counter at an auction sale this fall and are now working on putting cookbook together for the 125th Anniversary of the founding of Cando. They are wanting your favorite recipes. You may submit as many as you wish.

I was at the hockey arena this weekend to watch the mites game. I was impressed by all of the people who volunteer their time on weekends to support our community hockey program. We have skilled people running the scoreboard and announcing the players. Also, there are alot of volunteers who need to be recognized for their efforts not only in coaching but in running the concessions. There was quite a good menu served at the game. Taco in a bag, BBQ’s, super nachos were among many of the choices. If you get a chance, come and watch them play.
